Benjamin's Best High Speed Steel 1" Standard Skew Chisel - 18" Long. The skew chisel is a very versatile tool used for cutting precise smooth finish surfaces on the outside of spindles. It is also used for cutting vee-grooves and forming beads. It is ideal for facing off the end of cylindrical workpieces and can even be used for shaping shallow concave curves in spindles.

I have never had much success with skew. A friend suggested I try a heavier skew like this one. I use the skew every time I turn now. This is an awesome buy for the price.

I bought this to replace a Sears Skew that I wore out. It has a nice handle, and is shaped better than my old one. This one holds an edge longer. I sharpened it, relieved the edges where it contacts the toolrest, and sanded some flats on the handle. It's a perfect size, and is easier to handle than my oval skew. I'm glad I bought it, and will by the smaller version, soon.

I wanted to find out about the quality of this skew (HSS). It turns out to be better than expected. A solid tool and sharpens fine. The metal is not highly polished, but that does not matter to its performance.

Got this to replace my only oval skew and it will be a good replacement. Took very little work to put a good edge on it. Need to break the sharp edges to slide better on the tool rest but that is to be expected.
