Long
Ranger™ Multigate Switch System
Never
forget to turn your dust collector on or off.
Turning your dust collector on and off is automatic when your dust collector is wired to your blast gates.
This Long Ranger™ system includes a special relay box that your dust collector plugs into. The relay has terminals that you wire to the micro switches on the blast gates. The system is wired in parallel so opening a blast gate turns on your collector, but the dust collector won’t turn off unless all of the gates in your shop are closed. Manual switches can be easily wired into the system so you can manually turn your dust collector on and off from anywhere in your shop.
This set includes a 220V Relay switch box, a switch enabled blast gate and 100 ft of hookup wire.

not good enoughi had to put heavier gage wire from unit to electrical box, kept tripping breaker. put new wire on and runs great

Long RangerGreat product for turning on the dust collector. No running around the shop. Just open the gate and run. Use your saw, jointer, bandsaw or whatever. Nine gates around my shop but no mess! ! !

Makes control of your dust collector easy and convenient!I purchased this system along with a new Tempest Cyclone dust collector (see separate review) as part of an overall remodeling and updating of my shop. I wasn't sure if it would really work all that well, but now that it's all in it has far exceeded my expectations! Installation is very simply. The control box mounts to the wall next to your collector, and plugs into a 220V electrical outlet. The collector then plugs into the control box. Low voltage wires inner-connect all the blast gates then run back to the control box, and attach to terminal posts on top. The instructions are a little vague, but the system is so simple to hook up that you really don't need much in the way of instruction anyway. What I like is that the blast gates are spring loaded. You pull them open, and there is a little notch in the gate that holds it in the open position. When you close it, the spring holds the gate firmly shut, which depresses the switch and shuts off the system. Very convenient way to operate your dust collection system, and it eliminates walking back and forth to the collector to turn it on and off (or wandering around the shop trying to figure out what you did with the remote). Easy to install, simple and convenient to operate - highly recommended!

Excerpts reprinted from WOOD MagazineEditor Test Drive: "I've had a remote control on my 3-HP dust collector for years, but just like with the TV in my living room - the remote often comes up missing. With Penn State's MultiGate System there's no need for a remote because the metal blast gates turn the collector on and off when I open and close them, something to be done anyway. It took about two hours to install the control unit and live gates and connect them with 22-gauge wire. It's really simple, even if you don't do much electrical work. I like that the gates have an open slot, so they push stray chips out the back upon closing rather than causing the gate to jam. The base system comes with the relay box, one gate and 100' of wire. Extra gates cost only $11 each, and an extra 100' of wire costs $10."
