Never forget to turn your dust again
Turning your dust collector on and off is automatic when your dust collector is wired to your blast gates.
This Long Ranger system includes a special relay box that your dust collector plugs into. The relay has terminals that you wire to the micro switches on the blast gates. The system is wired in parallel so opening a blast gate turns on your collector, but the dust collector won't turn off unless all of the gates in your shop are closed. Manual switches can be easily wired into the system so you can manually turn your dust collector on and off from anywhere in your shop.
This set includes a 110V Relay switch box, a switch enabled blast gate and 100 ft of hookup wire.

Very convenientI'm very happy with this product. It saves me from walking across the shop to turn on the DC which has totally eliminated those "Oh, I don't need the DC for this one cut..." moments. Consequently, my shop is cleaner and my lungs probably are, too.

Wish I had bought this sooner...Recently I expanded my dust collection system to include my lathe. I purchased the Long Ranger 110V Motor Starter and a few more gates. Now, instead of having to plug my dust collector into an incovenient outlet, and then letting it run constantly, I can now just open and close the gate that is right at my lathe. The kit contains the starter, one gate, a spool of wire and a set of ring terminals and wire nuts. The starter has a 5.5 foot cord (66 inches), so it can be plugged into an outlet that might not be easily accessed, and then the dust collector is plugged into the starter. My only complaint with the starter is that there is no way to mount it to anything. I ended up using cable ties to strap it to a 2 by 4. Other than that, it is a great addition to my shop.

Excerpts reprinted from WOOD MagazineEditor Test Drive: "I've had a remote control on my 3-HP dust collector for years, but just like with the TV in my living room - the remote often comes up missing. With Penn State's MultiGate System there's no need for a remote because the metal blast gates turn the collector on and off when I open and close them, something to be done anyway. It took about two hours to install the control unit and live gates and connect them with 22-gauge wire. It's really simple, even if you don't do much electrical work. I like that the gates have an open slot, so they push stray chips out the back upon closing rather than causing the gate to jam. The base system comes with the relay box, one gate and 100' of wire. Extra gates cost only $11 each, and an extra 100' of wire costs $10."

A DREAMI wanted to thank you for your help and advice in setting up a first class shop vacuum system. Several years ago I had purchased a 1 1/2 hp double bag system. When I thumbed through the Penn State catalog recently, I found your "Assistance with Ductwork Layout page". I ended up installing an overhead system with four drops. What really made the system super functional is your Long Ranger Multi Gate System. I love it!! There is no "clicker" to lose like with a TV, was very easy to install using bell wire, the metal blast gates open up 100% and the system is very reasonable in price. Any woodworker considering a shop vacuum system would never go wrong with this control system.
