When I first got these chisels I had difficulty using them. Then I realized that the two small chisels had 40 deg bevels and the large one had a 34 deg bevel. I regrounded all to a 30 deg bevel (fingernail), and now have a set of chisels that are excellent for planing and contours on spindle work, at a very reasonable price. This also gave me a finer finish on the bevel than was on the original. My opinion is that non-traditional tools, such as these, should come with instructions relating to use and sharpening. For those who would like a primer on the use of this style of chisel, go to the Robert Sorby website and watch the instructional videos on their Spindlemaster. You can also view/print their printed instruction sheet.

Excellent chisels and totally useful on the lathe. I have shared one of them with another woodturner and he expects to be getting a set for himself. And, the price was right!

These chisels are as advertised, good for the beginner. They act as a skew and scraper. My daughter is using them to make pens. The 1 inch'er needed sharpening out of the box but that is a minor issue.

I have received and used the versa chisels on small lathe projects. I use them to replace the skew chisel, I find these chisels to be more forgiving then the skew, easier to handle and less prone to accidental catches while turning, mostly I feel to the rounded edge design of the chisels. They perform well on both hard and soft wood. I especially like the smooth finish that I can achieve with these chisels verse the gouge.

Received the set as a gift and they are fantastic! Easy to use, nice balance and just the right 'feel' in my hands. I have used them for several hours before posting and I can't say enough good about them except that I wish I had bought them earlier, but since they were a gift, I cannot complain!

I have been wanting these tools for some time. I'm sorry now that I didn't get them sooner.

These are easier to work with than a chisel or gouge. They are great for planing and making gradual slopes on turning projects. I am cheating myself to some degree because I can accomplish much of the work of the chisel without having to learn how to use one.

This is a great set of tools with an excellent design. They work well as both a scraper and a skew for my uses. I have also used them to rough out pen blanks and they work well for that as well. They hold their edge as well as my Robert Sorby tools that I paid much more for each individual tool. I will be purchasing more of this tool brand in the future because of this.

I read in the online instructions how these chisels were very forgiving about digging and catching. Since getting the set they are the only chisels I use. Ease of use, size width, handle length and ease of sharpening mark them as a real winner.
