The aluminum plate is heavy duty, however, it is difficult at best to get it centered on the spindle. It would be better if it was designed to screw directly on like a scroll chuck. Also, the chisel contacts the abrasive surface at a skewed angle due to the length of the chisel handle coming in contact with the lathe bed (not enough clearance). This makes it impossible to achieve the desired grind angle on the chisel. A flat plate grinding rest with adjustable angle that fits into the banjo would be useful for grinding other chisels and squaring pen blanks. As it is, the product is not very useful.

This is a great accessory. Mounts on the spindle and stays there. Easy to sharpen gouges with very light, accurate touches. Tools stay sharper because this is always accessible; you don't have to take time and pull out another machine to do the task. Great for cleaning CA glue off the insertion tool. TIP: use this to sand your tubes. Put a tube on your insertion tool and gently rotate while touching the spinning disc. I can more thoroughly sand four tubes in the same time it used to take me to sand one tube by hand.
