This dedicated chuck is a necessity for every bowl turner. The chuck includes a set of pre-installed jaws large enough to make an 8-1/2" bowl (up to 14" with Flat Jaw Extension item #: CRJA). The chuck features a key operated chuck body for quick and firm positioning, a chuck key, and 2 sets of grip pins. Pre-threaded for a 1" x 8tpi headstock. I bought one of these for a friend that has a Powermatic 20" swing lathe. He has only been turning since October 2009. His big concern was how to reverse chuck a bowl to finish the bottom. We set this chuck up on June 16th 2010 and finished the bottom of a 13" Cocobola bowl. We used an adapter to fit the 1 1/4" spindle to the 1" chuck. That was a lot hanging out there and the chuck and jaws ran near perfect. This is a great value and a very finely made dedicated chuck. This chuck, big jaws and an adapter are still cheaper than a big chuck and jaws that you have change every time you use it, Way to go Penn State Ind

Wish I had decided to buy one earlier. This takes a lot of time out of finishing bottoms on bowls. Prior to this I would gather work to be finished and then finish multiple bowls at one time. Now it is easier to complete the bowls one at a time without spending a great deal of time changing chuck jaws.
