I got it to turn bobbins for lace making, using a variety of woods cut for pen blanks. I'm too cheap to buy high quality, straight grain blanks, buy in bulk. Many are very hard, some with splits. I need a small point with small, sharp prongs. This does the job! With the small diameter I can turn close to the drive center.

Great for small work. Gives nice access to the back of a piece turned. Good holding power.
