I've never used a Captive Ring Tool. I tried the 3 tools on a spare spindle. Though I need to learn how thick to make the rings and how to pare the wood beside and under the rings, the tools made cutting the rings simple.

Captive ring tools

I have a coworker who is getting ready to have a bundle of joy and wanted to make her a baby rattle for the show we are going to have soon. I tried many attempts with using a skew and I didn't think it looked good enough so I purchased these from PSI and they make the job easy and all the rings are the same size and a lot smoother then what they were the other way.

Right out of the box I used this set to create a captive ring wedding goblet for a very good family friend's daughter. They performed flawlessly!! And the wedding present was very well received. Great set well worth the money.
