Unfortunately, this jig was about what I expected--a piece of wood with a groove in it. Anyone with basic woodworking skills and the proper tools could come up with something adequate from shop scraps and not have to spend $5. It is too short to hold an entire pen, meaning you can only do one half at a time and you must do your work on it before assembly. The usable length is about 3 3/4" due to a small dowel in it that acts as a stop. The groove is a 90 degree angle and the depth is about 1/4", so the pen sits about halfway down in the groove and half sticking up. You can probably get by with it, but I don't think it's worth the price.
