Great improvement

I put this cannister on my DC2 1.5 hp dust collector replacing the 1 micron bags. I wanted to remove the hassle of emptying the bag when full. The improvement in suction is amazing. So far, it is leaking no fine dust like the old bags did. The dust collector ought to come with this filter as the standard--forget about the bags.

Canister Filter Review

The canister fit my Jet dust collector rim diameter just fine and it appears to be doing the job well. I've only had it installed about a month, but I'm definitely getting better suction than I was getting before with the used filter bags. However, the assembly instructions included in the box were terrible leaving a lot of educated guess work to get the inside paddle handle attached properly. Some parts in the box weren't even mentioned in the instructions at all. Just getting the paddle mechanism out of the center of the canister without damaging the canister filter material was a challenge. Also, the advertised height dimension of the canister is wrong by approximately 2.5 inches. Once the paddle handle is attached to the canister, something you have no choice about, the overall height is greater than the print and on-line catalogs show. My basement ceiling height was my critical dimension and would have been exceeded once the assembled canister with handle was installed on my Jet dust collector. Since I couldn't raise the ceiling, some creative mechanical modifications to the dust collection unit itself were required that I had not anticipated. Although I ultimately got everything to work successfully, I would have given the product 5 stars if there had been better written instructions about assembly and installation, and if the advertised dimensions of the fully assembled canister had been more accurate.
