Gate functions decently enough for "economy grade". Liked: price, functionality. Disliked: tapered ends slipped out of hoses (when stressed) except when clamped VERY tightly; clogged to the point of inoperability with concrete dust but worked fine with sawdust.

Very good quality ABS gates fit the bill for building a low cost yet efficient dust collection system. The wide hose connectors make for solid connections, and the gate design allows little if any leakage. Minor differences in gate fit solved by side-mounting the slide- stays open or closed. Very good value- use the savings to upgrade to a higher capacity vac. system!

This economical plastic blast gate has enough sleeve for a positive clamping to the hose. One failing might be that a small bend in the plastic may not provide the friction for a positive "hold open". I have two of these, one of which was perfect and the other a bit loose (in staying open, not in air leakage). I made an easy fix by laying a short line of Super Glue to narrow the slide slot - works perfectly now.
