This Heavy Duty French Curl Tool Rest serves a double duty for turners; You can shape bowls up to 10" dia outside and hollow bowls as small as 6" dia inside. The radius shape enables you to position your chisels close to the work to eliminate turning vibration and chattering.  Overall size: 4" high, 8-1/2" wide & made from heavy duty cast iron.  Compatible with midi lathes with 5/8" posts such as Turncrafter Pro, Delta and Jet.

Nice, but there is heavy paint along the top edge that makes it impossible turn accurately. No problem though, just turn it upside down on a stationary belt sander and sand the top surface flat. If anyone knows where to get a longer toolrest, like maybe 12" long, with a 5/8" downshaft for the Turncrafter lathe let me know. I need it for getting down to the bottom of deep bowls. Thanks.

The tool is very good for turning bowls inside and out. The size of the tool would limit the diameter of a bowl being turned. The adjustment height is great for using various lathe tools. I would recommend this tool to anyone that turns bowls or other objects where the distance from the tool rest to the work item requires closer adjustments to the work surface.
