Picture Looks BetterMy lathe came with a 14" toolrest, so I'm also using this 9" rest for general purpose smaller work. Far more compact and convenient. The pens screw in a little rough but that will smooth out with repeated use. The pin placement does offer additional leverage for bowl work. In the picture the toolrest looks nice and polished. What I got was a dull, flat black paint finish. Although this doesn't affect its performance, the picture is misleading. One reviewer said the post was a little oversized to fit the toolrest body. I found the post to measure about 63/64" OD. Slightly less than 1 inch. Fit my toolrest body just fine with minor play. The post seems to have a thin wall, closed end, sleeve over maybe a 7/8" OD post and welded in place around the shoulder. The weld didn't go all the way around the post, so I could see the edge of the sleeve. In general the weld was a little rough and incomplete. Overall it will perform as advertised and I'm enjoying using it for general work as well. I'm giving it 3 stars for the poor finish and weld quality. Specs: Post OD: Slightly under 1" - about 63/64" Post Length: 4 1/2" Height of Toolrest: 5 1/2" Top Bar: 1" OD

Good tool restVery good tool rest but the 1" post is slightly larger then stated. Just a couple of swipes on the grinding wheel and we where ready to Turn.

Lath AccessoriesGreat addition to my lathe accessories. The pinned tool rest gives alot of extra support while turning dep hollowing projects. Highly recommend this product for any one serious about wood turning.

Pin tool rest 1This tool is a must for any serious bowl turner. The rest works wonders for coring bowls. The gauge stays steady and cleaning, smoothing out, the core of the bowl is both an arm saver and time saver.

Pleased with pinned restI tried the pinned toolrest because of arthritis and Carpal Tunnel problems with my hands and wrists. It has really reduced the pain and fatigue, and allowed me to turn much longer, and with far greater control. We all know that if you gain you lose. The cost is more frequent of the toolrest, but that is a small price to pay for being able to turn well again.

Toolrest with post.Great for hollowing.
