I have been using these gold finished stoppers and find that they really add pizazz to the looks of darker woods like Cocobolo, Rosewood, Ebony and Koa. I still use the silver finish stoppers for other types of lighter colored woods.

This is the best one I have found, 1 additional step would be to use 2 nuts, 1 as a locking nut to thread on the stopper end to be able to thread the screw insert into the turned piece, it's easier to use an end wrench than to try to hold the metal stopper to get the screw insert into the wood, then simply back off the locknut...
