I've ordered these kits before. The first one became a Chistmas gift for my neighbors. These kits are great little projects.
This is a nice straightforward kit to make, which sells well at craft shows. It is quick and easy to turn and the finished product is functional and atractive. The only problem I've ever encountered is occasional splitting of dymondwood blanks when pressing together. Removing the slight burr on the top of the arms of the corkscrew before fitting by running it against a belt sander fixes the problem. Functional and attractive.
very good
These T-handle stopper-corkscrew kits are super easy to turn. The only complaint I have is they (some of them) squeak a little when you unscrew them. Otherwise everyone loves them.
This has been one of my favorite items to make. I have made about a hundred of them. They seem to be customer favorite in that they not only marvel over my artwork but seem to find it facinating that the cone unscrews to reveal a corkscrew. I've only had one complaint of the corkscrew breaking off. I've tried it myself and found it difficult to pull a cork out due to it's size. This individual must have not pulled straight out and some how cocked it while pulling to actually break it. But due to this I now tell people the corkscrew is more of a novelty and they should use a different corkscrew and just use the stopper. This actually bothers me to say it because I charge a lot for my art and to say it is a novelty item is bad for business. Plus like I said, people buy them because of the corkscrew. I have seen the corkscrew in the upright style stopper but have not bought any. I think it would be really hard for everyone to pull straight out and I think more would be broken with this style. I don't want them coming back to me. I think the T-handle may be easier to pull straight with but I'm also leary of getting broken ones back. I'm liking the solid stoppers without the corkscrew right now. However I will continue to make the T-handle ones because the style is so different and likable. I would also like to see them in stainless.
