Received collet for making pocket watches. Takes a little getting used to but overall worked great. Was able to turn several watches with ease.

The expanding chuck works great, but the screw can be a problem. Just as other reviews mention, getting the screw out can ruin it.
I found that if you leave appx 1" of a nub you can part off the project leaving the screw in the waste wood.
Then you just take a wood chisel and carefully split the waste wood off from around the screw.
Now you can reuse the undamaged screw chuck again.

I have a number of clocks to turn using 1 3/8" inserts. This chuck is perfect for this application. It securely holds my workpiece and runs true even after rechucking. My only complaint: I do have a little trouble getting the piece to release from time to time.
The expanding collet chuck works fine, but the center screw option is a pain. The screw will not center as there is so much slop in the threads and I'm not sure the hole is perfectly centered either.
I found that this chuck is an excellent addition to my lathe tools

This a good expanding collet chuck that I thought would do double duty, but it doesn't. I bought it when I needed a screw chuck, thinking the added functionality would be a plus. I was wrong. The back hold screw doesn't hold well, which spells trouble if the working screw gets stuck in the piece. I couldn't remove mine without destroying the threads. Next time I'll buy a dedicated screw chuck. The collet chuck function works great, holds well if your tools are sharp and you use it after you've hogged out the heavy shaping.
