This tool is indispensable. It trims my work to a smooth, precise edge that assures me that my finished projects will have that professional look.

The barrel trimmer makes a smooth and flush surface for mounting on the pen mandrel

I'm not a big fan of unitaskers in the shop, any more than Alton Brown (Good Eats on Food Network) is fond of them in the kitchen. However, I guess making sure that the barrel is square to the brass tube I just glued into it requires something like this little beasty. It does the job well. If you're planning to turn a lot of pens, you should probably buy the carbide version.

I like the top piece better than on the old ones. I used to snap the tops off of the old ones.

it dulls when you cut deer antlers
I mounted the pen mill in the cordless drill and was able to square up my pen blanks in a flash.
This is an great must buy in tools. However, I wish that I had bought the set instead of the one piece. Well worth the money.
Trimmer seems to be good quality but needed sharpening.

This is so essential to making 7mm pens and pencils that you would be foolish not to have one! I simply pt it on my drill press and in less than 10 seconds I have perfectly squared edges ready to be turned on the lathe. Mine came in a kit and it works like a charm. Thanks PSI!
