This is a classy pen (also the pencils for matching sets..) Good for people with mdium to small hands as a writing instrument..

The Designer pen kit was a challenge. Be sure to purchase the bushing set to go along with it. The kit is compact and nice looking too.

This kit is a winner. I put the gold with Texas Ebony and the result was incredible. This was a gift for my wife so it had to be special. It was. Easy to use kit, great instructions, first rate quality. I'm going to get more of these.

Excellent product.

I agree with other reviews. A nice pen for the $. But the twist mechanism does not work smoothly. This is noticeable and detracts from the overall appeal of the pen. Maybe I just got a bad twist mech, who knows.

The casing is to small in diameter. The twist mechanism will not fit into it. I must do a lot of filing to get to fit. Mondell. Metz

Excellent product. I have used this style several times and have always been pleased with it. It is a little longer pen and allows a little thicker wood in the finished product. Very good!

These pens make up to an attractive pen for a low cost. Should have gotten more my last order as sale price is now over in new catalog. Still a good deal.

Just the right size and weight. My favorite pen.
My most popular item as a mainstay as well as a family piece for a 3 piece set.
The prices are significantly lower than the competition and the kits are easy to make.

I like this pen kit. The first one or two I had problems getting the top cap to press on all the way down to the upper barrel. It turned out that the threaded insert wasn't pushing completely flush into the barrel. I now use a 5/16" steely (ball bearing) between the insert and the press or vise face. The curve of the bearing allows the insert to be pressed in a little farther, is self centering, and doesn't screw up the threads. When the insert is slightly below the rim of the barrel the top cap then threads down completely snug against the barrel.
Nice kit that is more challenging for my students to make when they need a more advanced project.

I recently purchased a designer sampler kit (PKMONTSS3) and the special bushing PKMONT-BUX which greatly simplified the tenon cutting required for this style of pen, and can be used with several other pkmont kits. Give the designer Vic Kolber a "pat on the back" and a rating of 5.
