Beautiful colors when finished. Difficult to turn though. The exposed end grain makes it easy to chip and split. Can't be to aggressive when turning. Great final look if you take your time.

I love these blanks. Everyone loves the beautiful, contrasting colors. They also finish exceptionally well.
The pictures of the blanks on the PSI web site does NOT do them justice. Even when I received them I was not sure how they would look. I made a slimline pen and was very happy with the result. So was the customer. One secret to these, as with any wood, especially cross grains is to use SHARP tools.

Just do not trim with a barrel trimmer, the blank will split along the grain. Use a sander and squaring device to trim the blank to length.
AS A NEW PEN TURNER I FIND THIS PRODUCT IS VERY EASY TO RUIN THE BLANK . IT IS VERY BRITTLE AND A LITTLE TOO MUCH PRESSURE AND BANG IT BLOWS APART.
Although I am not a big fan at all of the dymondwood style blanks, I cannot keep them in stock. Time and time again they are the first products a customer looks at (these and acrylics). If you are looking for something to pop and catch the eye, these are a great addition to your stock.... just don't make too many or you'll never sell anything really nice.
Every one I have turned is packed with color. Good to work with and finishes great.
Wonderful blanks that can be used in combination with maple to create a striking result.
