These blanks are not so special. After using the whole pack I can't say that any of the pens got me excited. I don't know if each pack is different but there isn't anything special in the pack that I got. Just so-so. I think I'll stick to packs of blanks that I know what's in them rather than take pot luck.

The blanks worked well with the Funline Slimline kits. The laminated blanks were a big hit with the grandkids. However, the woods were not as advertised -- the was definitely no purple heart and I would be hard pressed to call any of the solid blanks Indian Rosewood. Grain matching with several of the blanks was next ro impossible.

The EZ blanks are very colorful and awesome, however they all were all measured 1 7/8 long. which are 3/32 to short. Make sure of the QA and you have a superior product.

I have used three of the pen blanks and found them easy to work with. A couple of them I used were ho-hum after turning them and I had to use stain to get some color in them.

Good product but for beginners only. I ordered the undrilled one piece blanks but got these instead. No big deal just very limited in what you can do. Nice for the price and great for the first time pen turner.

Not bad quality. Be gentle and work slow

AS A BEGINNER TO WOOD TURNING I FOUND THESE BLANKS TO BE GREAT. WHEN TURNED THE WOOD IS VERY PRETTY AND MADE VERY NICE PENS WITHOUT HAVING TO CUT AND DRILL THE BLANKS. THANKS FOR KEEPING THINGS SIMPLE

They look great and held together well. At least one pair was too short for a standard slimline pen. Suppose to be 2 1/32 but it wall less that two inches. I used them for the mini pen key chain which is even shorter. The more exotic woods are rich in oils so they take a little more care in coating. Otherwise, good products.

My wife and daughter both picked the two color pen blanks for their first pens! Very unique and they turn out very nice looking (if I do say so myself!)!
These are always a good buy.
some of mixed wood isn't joined or drill right causing seperation

Great way to start if you are starting out and don't really know how to prepare a blank. These are great blanks and a good learning tool if you aren't into cutting drilling your own blanks.

I give a lot of pens to friends , neighbors, business acquaintances and customers, These blanks are great to quickly put a large number of pens together. I have found that people treasure a gift that you have taken the time to make with your own hands, and they remember you.. Thanks Penn State for providing a great product...that is a time and money saver...
