I purchased the Super Pen Making Starter Set with the Turncrafter Pro 1/2 HP Midi Lathe. The lathe's head stock had a wobble. After sending the head stock back for repair/exchange, the wobble was improved but the points of the head spur and live center were 1/16 inch off from each other. After calling customer service and talking with two technicians, I was told that that was within tolerance. I needed the lathe for a craft show that weekend, so I kept the lathe and filed the head stock base so that I could line up the head spur with the live center. It still has a slight wobble.

It only took me a few minutes to familarize myself with the workings of my new Turncrafter lathe. I made my first pen in about 20 minutes from start to finish. It looked good and I was amazed that I had made it. I would suggest that you include material about sharpening the great chisels that come with the Starter Set I purchased. I hope to turn out many items as I learn turning and become more comfortable doing so.

The set provided almost everything I wanted to start pen making. The only thing that seem to be missing was the EEE. I say that because if you watch the DVD from PSI, it talks about using it. It would have been nice to have that in the set. It is definitely addicting.

I defiantly thought this was a great start to getting into the craft of pen and pencil making, the only cons i would say to this is the fact that the kit i received came with only one type of wood - its great but didn't offer a great variety of making different example's of what one could offer to their future customers.
