3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Works well & is quiet - but some drawbacks, 6.16.2009
Reviewer: Stephen Austin (Lenoir, NC)

1.When it arrived there were no support poles for the collar or bags. Had to wait for them to be shipped. 2. The instructions are very poor. The illustrations didn't help and the part descriptions were hard to understand. 3. The allen wrenches which were supplied do not fit ANY of the screws shipped with the collector. 4. One of the castors doesn't roll smoothly at all. 5. It is too tall for my eight foot ceilings so I have to figure out a way to hold the bag on the ceiling. OTHERWISE it works very well and is VERY quiet. I especially like the way it allows you to see into the lower bag for emptying.

Pros: suction, relatively quiet, well balanced blower wheel has minimal vibration, components went together without the need for field modification. Cons: Assembly instructions poorly written. Some steps completely missing.

5 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 5 1.5 HP DC- Good unit, good valve, well pleased, 3.10.2009
Reviewer: Louis Krupnick (Silver Spring, MD)

Purchased this unit about a month ago & I really like it. Packaging was substantial & DC arrived in-time and in good shape. Although I haven't tried powering up multiple machines, suction seems to be pretty good. Assembly was fairly easy. Pro's- the unit is surprisingly quiet, my uninsulated shed is in the backyard and I don't think the neighbors will complain when I run it late. Dust collection, though relatively new seems to be good. Impeller seems to be well balanced. Cons- My only complaint is that it is not possible to relocate the switch and in my shop, this places the switch in a difficult location to access. All in all, I'm very well pleased. Good job Penn State!

This is my first dust collector other than a Shop Vac. I am pleased with the unit to this point. I use a Ridgid TS and connect to the saw outlet with the Shop Vac adapter and hose. It takes most of the debris created by the saw. The collector does very well with the fine dust from sanding. I used to be covered in dust after finishing a sanding project. My only beef is with the set up instructions. I feel they could be done much better as far as description of which screws to use where etc. I do not have any experience with any other brand of DC, but I find this machine to be very good at providing good dust control for my evolving woodshop.

Totally satisfied with this product. Only wish I hadn't waited so long to get serious about dust collection. Appreciate the good advice given to me by "Bill". The unit is powerful and reasonably quiet. Easy to assemble. My shop has never been this clean.

I got this and unpacked it. The directions for setup are ok. I got it setup within an hour. I have it using just 2-4" flex lines for now but it works fine. I had compared all of them and this one delivered the most suction.
